If you've been following along, you've probably noticed I love a good lazy susan/spinner. Lazy Susan's are a game changer for organization.
Ever struggled to reach that one spice jar stuck in the back of the pantry?
Ever been too short to reach anything on your top two cabinets?
Ever couldn't organize your pantry because making neat rows doesn't work when you only have one of everything?
Ever accidentally bought sixteen deodorants because you can't see what's in the back under your bathroom sink? Asking for a friend... 😅
Lazy Susans make deep shelves and awkward corners functional by bringing everything within easy reach. With a simple spin, you can access what you need without knocking over everything in front of it.
Looking at these before pictures, it doesn't look like a Lazy Susan will fit in there. My client didn't think I would be able to get everything back in into the cabinet if I used a Lazy Susan. I said it can't hurt to try, and then I worked my magic...or Susan's magic.
One of the biggest causes of clutter is not knowing what you have. A Lazy Susan prevents items from getting lost or forgotten, especially in deep cabinets, under sinks, or on high shelves. Whether it's condiments, cleaning supplies, or skincare products, a turntable ensures everything is visible at a glance.
Lazy Susans are easy to clean and maintain. They prevent spills from spreading across entire shelves and help protect your cabinets from damage. If you go to my Before & After page, it is covered with examples of ways I use Lazy Susans to solve organizational problems.
My client and her husband love how their spice cabinets turned out. Everything that came out went back in except one grater that didn't belong there in the first place. My client even took her extra molasses out of her pantry and put it with her molasses in the spice cabinet. Like with like...that's how I like it. 🤓
Lazy Susans aren't just for kitchen cabinets - they work wonders in almost any part of the home. Some creative ways to use them include:
Organize canned goods, spices, and baking essentials in a pantry.
Keep condiments, sauces, and small jars easy to access in a refrigerator.
Store skincare, makeup, and hair products easily in a bathroom.
Organize cleaning supplies without digging through a messy cabinet under the sink.
Keep art suppplies and office essentials within reach in a craft room.
A Lazy Susan is a small investment with big organizational benefits. Whether you are decluttering your pantry , simplifying your bathroom, or making your kitchen more efficient, this simple spinning solution can transform your space. My client's final thoughts when we finished the kitchen: "I cook a lot, and everything is finally within reach! I believe in Lazy Susans now!"
I was recently asked to organize the pantry and kitchen drawers for one of my clients. They were facing several major pain points that made their kitchen space feel frustrating and inefficient. The pantry was not very functional—items were scattered with no clear system, multiples of the same products were stored in different places, and the very deep shelves made it difficult to access anything at the back. The kitchen drawers were over-filled, and my client's husband said they had trouble opening and closing the drawers.
To add to the challenge, there were three very different cooks using the space, each with varying heights and preferences, and limited pantry space to work with. On top of that, they had a 7-year-old who needed to be able to reach his snacks and breakfast items independently. My client's special request was to make sure her mother-in-law could easily reach her favorite ingredients and cooking utensils without needing to stoop over or get on a step stool. The client wanted to keep almost all of their items and felt completely overwhelmed by the scope of the project, but I was confident that I could transform their kitchen and into a fully functional and well-organized space.
I know that many people dream of having a picture-perfect, Pinterest-worthy pantry—one of those stunning butler’s pantries where every ingredient is perfectly decanted into matching glass jars. You may not have that kind of space in your home, but I maximize every inch of space you do have, ensuring that every item is easily accessible, even on those deep 16-inch shelves and in the dark, hard-to-reach corners where two shelves meet. I create systems that work for your household. I accomodate special requests and considerations like my client's sweet wishes for her mother-in-law and 7-year-old. I make sure like items are stored together, labeled clearly, and arranged in a way that makes maintaining the system effortless.
While my client ran an errand, I took a quick look at my client’s top three most used kitchen drawers and improved their organization. The client was amazed by the small changes, saying, “I didn’t even know I needed that organized. I love this!”
The next morning, my client and I tackled the rest of her kitchen drawers. She wanted everything her mother-in-law liked to use within easy reach and grouped together. I made sure that every item what easily accessible and every drawer opened and closed without issue. We even switched what some of the drawers held to better optimize the space.
My client and her family are now thrilled with the space. It’s so rewarding to see the impact these changes are making on my client and her family's life!
I only like to buy household goods when Target is having a sale or offering gift cards in exchange for purchases. But because of these deals, I found myself buying too much. On the flip side, there were times when I would run out of supplies right when prices were high and sales were nowhere to be found. Because I didn't have a single place I kept everything, I didn't even realize I had accumulated twelve packs of paper towels!
That’s when I came up with an inventory system that helped me take advantage of deals without overbuying and ensured I always had enough stock on hand during price hikes. Here’s how I did it:
I set up one shelf for all my extra supplies, keeping everything in one place for easy access. I use the Notes app to track what I have, updating it whenever I use or restock items. This helps me keep tabs on my stock so I don’t overbuy or run out.
Now that I always know how much of each item I have in my inventory, I can be strategic about when to restock. When the sales start again, I replenish what I’ve used, ensuring I always have enough without falling into the trap of bulk-buying just because it's on sale. It will be a while before I need paper towels again!
Letting go of something you spent money on can be more difficult for some people than for others. You invested in all these white sheets, intending to use them for a long time, but after a very short time, you've switched to darker colors.
Will you ever choose these white sheets over your current sheets again? Are you only keeping them because you spent money on them? Can they be gifted to someone else to enjoy so you won't feel like the money was wasted?
Letting go isn't about waste. It's about making room for what truly serves you. Are you ready to reclaim that space?
I’m thrilled to share that my very first client asked me back! They’re getting ready to move, and this time they needed help sorting, decluttering, and packing. Today’s project: a closet.
While my client focused on other parts of the house, I dove into the closet with a mission. After a quick conversation about what they wanted to keep, donate, and toss, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. The best part of this job is the visible difference I get to make—transforming a cluttered space into something organized and manageable is incredibly satisfying.
The results were fantastic—today we filled 14 bags of donations for Goodwill! That's 14 bags of items they won’t have to move to the new house, and even better, 14 bags of things they won’t have to unpack later! It’s so rewarding knowing that I’ve helped make the process easier for my clients.
One of the things I love most about this work is the sense of relief it brings. There’s something incredibly gratifying about helping someone let go of things that no longer serve them and creating space for the things that truly matter. I look forward to these projects all week, and it’s always so heartwarming to hear how much my clients appreciate the transformation.
This is why I do what I do. Helping people create organized, peaceful spaces brings me so much joy. Here’s to many more days of decluttering, organizing, and making life easier for those who need it most!
While I've been doing organizing for years for friends and family, today I helped my first official client as Alisa's Kitchens & Closets. They needed help doing a declutter and move out pack of a kids playroom. We spent two hours working together to sort and pack, deciding what to keep, donate, or toss. The kids were absolutely amazing throughout the process. When I was their age, I remember thinking that everything I owned was special and couldn't possibly be parted with! These kids were so practical and thoughtful about it. They got right to it, and we ended up with eight bags of donations and several bags of trash. This experience was so rewarding, and I can't wait for next week!
